Low Voltage Switches Industrial LV Switch Solutions

Low voltage (LV) switchgear operates at voltages up to 1000 VAC or 1500 VDC and is used in distribution panels, motor control centers, and industrial equipment. Medium voltage (MV) switchgear operates from 1 kV to 36 kV and is typically used in utility substations and large industrial facilities. LV switchgear is generally more compact, lower cost, and easier to maintain than MV equipment.

A fusible disconnect switch incorporates fuse holders to provide both circuit isolation and overcurrent protection in a single device, offering breaking capacities up to 200 kA rms. A non-fusible disconnect switch provides circuit isolation and switching only, without integrated fuse protection. Fusible types are preferred where overcurrent protection is required at the disconnect point.

The LV switch range covers a broad spectrum from 16A (SIRCO M) up to 2000A (SIRCO MOT DC). Fusible models like the FUSERBLOC UL are rated 30A to 800A, while non-fusible models such as the SIRCO UL extend to 1200A. For DC and ESS applications, the SIRCO MOT DC and INOSYS LBS series support currents up to 2000A.

Several switches are specifically designed for PV and ESS applications, including the SIRCO MC PV (20–40A at up to 1500 VDC), INOSYS LBS UL 98B (10–1200A at 1000–1500 VDC), INOSYS LBS DC UL ESS (800–1200A at 1500 VDC), SIRCO MOT DC, and SIRCO MOT DC ESS (2000A at 1500 VDC). These products are tested to UL 98B, UL 98A, and IEC 60947-3 DC-PV2 standards.

Industrial LV switches incorporate multiple safety features including door interlocking in the ON position, padlocking capability (up to 3 padlocks) in the OFF position for Lockout/Tagout compliance, transparent polycarbonate covers with electrical inhibition during maintenance, visible contact position indicators, and double-break-per-pole designs that ensure full circuit isolation during disconnection.

For North American installations, look for UL 98 (general-purpose disconnect switches), UL 508 (motor disconnects), UL 1008 (transfer switches), and CSA certifications such as CSA C22.2 No. 4 or No. 14. For DC and PV applications, UL 98A and UL 98B are the relevant standards. Products in this range carry multiple certifications covering both North American and IEC international requirements.
